Sept 15 - 19

In fourth grade science, we finished up our chapter with energy pyramids.  After a review, we took our chapter 1 test.  Then, we started social studies.  In math, we worked on basic division facts and relating division to multiplication.  In ELA, we worked on finding text features and the main idea of expository nonfiction texts. We worked on including transitional sentences that enhance our writing.  We will be having a text feature quiz next week!  Stay focused on making our AR goals!

In fifth grade science, we studied symbiosis, photosynthesis, energy pyramids, and changes in Eco systems. In math, we finished up multiplication and did exponents.  In ELA, we worked on finding text features and the main idea of expository nonfiction texts.  We will be having a text feature quiz next week!  We have been working on essay writing for the past few weeks.

Remember, Tuesday is picture day!  Also, we will be taking our first writing assessment on Wednesday.

We created a foldable to help us with finding main ideas.

We love using the POW technique to write our essays!  P stands for pull apart the prompt; O stands for outline; W stands for write.
